Chief Editor

Professor Janice Denegri-Knott worked in the not for profit sector after completing her undergraduate studies in communication and development at the Universidad Católica Boliviana.  Shortly after that she earned a masters in marketing communications from the Bournemouth Media School and went on to gain her PhD from the Business School at the University of Exeter, England.  She teaches consumer culture and behaviour at the Bournemouth Media School and is part of the Advertising for Good Reseearch Association (agora). Her research deals with the structuring of consumption patterns and practices in digital virtual spaces. She has recently co-edited, Digital Virtual Consumption, a collection of essays that deal with these issues. She has published extensively in the field of digital virtual consumption and more recently about marketing and consumer behaviour in emerging economies. She has published in journals like:  The Journal of Consumer Research,  Journal of Macromarketing; Consumption, Markets & Culture, Journal of Consumer Culture, Journal of Computer Mediated Communication,  Journal of Consumer Behaviour, and the  Journal of Consumer Policy. She also belongs to the editorial boards of Consumption, Markets & Culture, Journal of Marketing Management and Marketing Theory.  She has also worked with major UK brands on projects dealing with the valuation and capitalization of digital content.

 

Associate Editors

Dr Rebecca Jenkins is a principal academic at Bournemouth University. Becky is part of AGORA - the Advertising For Good Research Association - a group dedicated to prioritising individual and societal wellbeing in the study of advertising, marketing communications and consumer culture.  After reading about the imagination in consumer research Becky was fascinated with the notion of consumption in the imagination and conducted a study based on consumer desire for her Masters dissertation in 2005. After a couple of years working in the marketing industry, in 2007 Becky returned to academia, and embarked on her PhD in Consumer Culture, specifically Consumption in the Everyday Imagination.  Becky was appointed as a Lecturer in Advertising and Consumer Behaviour in 2010, became Senior Lecturer in 2014 and Principal Academic in 2016. She mostly teaches Consumer Insights and Social Science Research Methods and supervises PhD students.  Research based on her PhD has been awarded Editor’s Choice Award in the Journal of Consumer Culture noted as one of the ‘most noteworthy manuscripts’ since the journal was launched in 2001.

 

 

Dr Gloria Khamkar is a distinguished academic and accomplished researcher specialising in Media Studies, with a specific focus on radio and migrant communities. Holding a doctorate from Bournemouth University, she brings extensive expertise to her work. With a background as both a seasoned journalist and a community radio practitioner, Dr. Khamkar maintains a constant commitment to exploring the dynamic relationship between media and migration. Having personally experienced migration from India and establishing herself in the UK, Gloria’s passion lies in comprehensively examining the intricate processes of migration and integration. She is particularly interested in understanding their deep influence on the media landscape and the content we consume. Dr. Khamkar’s profound insights and unique perspective make her an invaluable contributor to the field of Media Studies. Her continued research in media and migration showcases her unwavering dedication to advancing knowledge and fostering a deeper understanding of these critical subjects.

Raven Hurste is a nomadic writer and soul midwife with over 25 years experience writing and editing copy for websites and publications in a variety of sectors. In 2019 they published The Keepers of Hearts, an illustrated faerie story in rhyme, and are close to completing their first novel. They have an MA in Creative Writing and Publishing from Bournemouth Universit

 

Anelise Maske has a degree in psychology, a master's in philosophy, and creative writing & publishing, as well as a PGCE with QTS. She is an experienced editor in the education sector, having worked with clients such as OUP. From fiction to academia, she enjoys all aspects of writing and editing.
